If you'd rather just play the original game on PlayStation 4 than the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, you can do exactly that if you pre-order. Those who slap some cash down early will gain access to the Back to the Origins Set, which includes a classic filter that allows you to switch between the updated visuals and the graphics of the 2003 classic at a moment's notice.
Other digital goodies include a classic weapons set, featuring five sword skins from the original, and a classic prince outfit to make him look just like the PlayStation 2 version. The remake has also confirmed a $39.99 price point, so at least this isn't a title hoping to compete with the biggest PlayStation 5 games of the new year.
What's more, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake still includes the very first entry in the franchise from way back in 1989. The 2D title will be unlocked at some point during the campaign and will then be accessible through the main menu. Neat! Will you be picking up Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake on PS4 in January next year? Turn back time in the comments below.

If the reviews are good (and it comes out before the games release) I think I'm gonna preorder this. It's kind of annoying that the original weapon/filter/clothing is locked for preorder only though. Also it's weird that the prince accent is india rather than middle east, ubisoft should use assassin creeds oddyssey voice actors for this game.
everything about this game feels wrong. a poorly made "remake" with very lazy looking graphics, basic perks locked to a pre-order... this is just ubisoft screwing an amazing IP.
My concern is if the graphics can be changed so easily it means the shoddy combat of the original is intact...
For those who haven't played the original, have fun springing over one enemy type and wall springing over the other...
Pre-Ordered for £31.86. Only dabbled with the original. If the reviews are crap, I will cancel
The graphic art style is always a big part of a game's appeal for me. For example, I particularly liked the original Infamous and Borderlands style. The Resistance: FOM style and palette added so much to the game's atmosphere and appeal.
This POP style pales in comparison,
The game would look better aesthetically if all the in-game models could be replaced with the old ones. The pretty environments can stay.
A bit cheeky sticking the old game filter behind a pay wall. Others titles have it just part of the normal game for everyone to use.
Turns out I'm as old as the PoP franchise. Huh. Who knew?
Not really a selling point when the Remake and Original look identical 😏
This should not be locked behind a pre order bonus. Should be a basic feature of a remake. Ubisoft would do well to look at Activision (yeah, i said it!) Or bluepoint to see how a quality remake should be done.
This just seems lazy im afraid.
I'm looking forward to this. Not every game needs amazing graphics.
I'm not keen on locking these things behind a limited time preorder bonus. This kind of stuff just makes me more likely to wait for a big discount instead of supporting the game at launch.
@wiiware The voice of the Prince is a new recording by Yuri Lowenthal, who voiced the character in the original game so he's not Indian. If you want to be annoyed about him being American then go for it. He also voiced Peter Parker in 2018's Spider-Man. To me, he is the voice of the Prince.
@Bluetrain7 I remember the american prince is on the other remake, the one with a lot of platforming and you can't die. It's good but not as good as sand of time series.
I think it's been misinterpreted. The classic filter, from the looks of it, will only tone down the extravagant contrast to the original's level. Or am I getting it wrong?
@wiiware Yuri was the voice in The Sands of Time and The Two Thrones in the Sands trilogy as well as returning in 2010's The Forgotten Sands. It was Nolan North in the 2008 game. Warrior Within was Robin Atkin Downes.
@Bluetrain7 Voice actor wise, the sand of times prince is the best I think, I don't like in the sequel ubi makes the prince more darker. I haven't played the forgotten sand.
@GoodGame where from mate? Decent price
@wiiware I agree that Yuri just feels like the Prince. Warrior Within is my least favorite of the series. It was a misguided attempt to make the series edgy.
Wait, the visuals are upgraded? Where.
I don't see it being any better in the after, if anything, the before looks to have better colors in the comparison...
Bit of a d*ck move really, love going back to classic modes mid way through games, wont pay extra for the privilege though!!
@pip_muzz I thought this is basically a new game with different engine and levels. Or is it the same game with better graphics?
@badbob001 if you can switch the game graphics as is being advertised... It would appear it's the exact same game but with better graphics.
I can't say 100% but it certainly appears that way from what I understand so far...
Always nice to see games with options like these. I won't be using it though, since I can always turn on my PS3 and replay the HD Trilogy.
@Bluetrain7 @wiiware Just came to second that Yuri Lowenthal who was the voice of the Prince in the first game Is also the voice in this remake. Unfortunately he couldn’t do the sequel Warrior Within due to a scheduling conflict but was back for the third game, Two Thrones.
Additionally the voice of Farah was Joanna Wasick in Sands of time, and was brilliant, but she left the VA industry to become a lawyer and so wasn’t back again. It was noticed.
A lot of things changed in the sequel that made fans unhappy that the series had changed direction including:
@Stocksy Shopto.net
I don't think they understand what remake means.
